A tale of heroism, love and a serial killer all merging in the small seacoast town of Beaufort, North Carolina as hurricane Emily headed directly for the city. Emily was the strongest hurricane of 1993, a category three and promised to devastate the fragile outer banks. It turned away just off the coast taking only three lives as it did so. One of those was Alan Christopher Kelly, an artist and adventurer from New England who had hitched a ride on a schooner headed south. He found more than adventure in Beaufort, he found Sarah Turlington, a beautiful yet shy young woman who had lived in the town her entire life. Though from far different backgrounds, the attraction was strong for both of them. It seemed that destiny had intervened in their lives. Were it not for a series of violent attacks by a demented soul, all may have had a happy ending. The emergence of the powerful hurricane and the appearance of a serial killer all collided with Alan’s arrival in Beaufort. The coincidence did not go unnoticed by Sheriff Morris Stone. He had to make the decision whether to apprehend a suspect before Beaufort was struck broadside by the hurricane or take the chance of a maniac running loose in a town without protection. The events that followed will place you directly in the path of the storm. This is an action filled adventure embracing a powerful love story.

Hurricane Emily was a real event in Beaufort in 1993 and the author has sailed those local waters for over thirty years. The story and setting are therefore presented in the most descriptive and realistic manner possible.
